GIS-Based Simulation for Landfill Site Selection in Mekong Delta: A Specific Application in Ben Tre Province

چکیده

The aim of this research is to develop a GIS-based simulation for selecting the most suitable site solid waste landfill which could help minimize harmful impacts environment and society in extreme sensitive complex delta by an integration geographic information system (GIS) analysis hierarchy process (AHP) nine criteria (distance from surface water; depth ground water table; distance residential area, land use, main roads, geo-environmental geotechnical characteristics, historical tourism sites, industrial zones). Different previous studies on selection, geology-related including soil types/lithology, permeability, depth/soil thickness (soil-structure), are called characteristics research, will be carefully considered, integrated, evaluated. AHP was employed determine weight each criterion based pair comparison its matrix, while suitability index (LSI) score calculated site. Moreover, map also created indicated very advantageous, rather disadvantageous areas study area siting. Finally, developed model used supporting planners, managers, policy makers, local government make decisions effective planning strategies selection applied anywhere especially other deltas around world.
